May Brickley receives Hall of Fame Award 2004.

May started breeding pedigree Simmentals exactly 30 years ago when, together with her late husband, Tom, they imported their first heifers from Austria, to found the “Anatrim” herd. They went back to Austria twice more to purchase stock bulls and more females.

Together they have won every major honour possible with their stock since then, including:

  • 3 RDS female Championships and 2 RDS supreme championships
  • the group class in Limerick show on 6 occasions, when that show was in it’s heyday
  • And their stock have topped the Performance Test in Tully on many occasions

Cattle from the Anatrim herd have been exported to Northern Ireland, Britain, Canada and Sweeden as well as supplying Stock bulls to more than 20 Pedigree herds within Ireland.

Tom Brickley served as President of the Irish Simmental Cattle Society. The Simmental breeding tradition of the Brickley family continues today in the herds of May’s sons David and Gerard, while May continues her great interest in the breed, never missing a major Simmental event.
